6:30 pmto9:30 pm

Present results from second session, outline potential preferred scenario and get reaction

All meetings, starting at 6:30 PM will be held at the:
West Junior High School Cafeteria, 3950 Silver Lake Road, Traverse City

Preferred Scenario: The results of the second meeting will be shared with participants and a preferred scenario will be described, based on the results of the second meeting. There may be a possibility that there are two primary, yet distinct preferred scenarios that will be presented. .Again, participants will form small groups with a facilitator and react to the preferred scenario(s). The time taken in the agenda for small groups will be shorter, given the more focused task, with longer time taken for larger group discussion and the change for everyone to hear others reactions and thoughts.

Refinement: An additional meeting has been scheduled if there is continued need for discussion and refinement of the preferred scenario or scenarios. This meeting will be more likely be a full group discussion to work toward a consensus vision.

6:30 pmto9:30 pm

Present results from first session, share alternative future use scenarios and get reaction to each scenario

All meetings, starting at 6:30 PM will be held at the:
West Junior High School Cafeteria, 3950 Silver Lake Road, Traverse City

Alternative Scenarios: The results of the first meeting will be shared with participants and an opportunity will be provided to discuss the ideas and themes. Based on the first meeting results, a series of alternative use scenarios will be developed and described to the full group. Participants will form small groups and discuss what they like and don’t like about each of the alternative scenarios. Again, the facilitators will meet after the small groups complete their work, identify the key themes, and share those results with the full group. Participants will be asked to rank the scenario according to their preferences. There may be an opportunity at this point to discuss what appears to be a preferred scenario and get this group’s reaction.

Follow-up to January 18, 2007 meeting

Monday, February 12th, 2007

As we heard the input from participants in last Thursday’s session, four use themes emerged: recreation, agriculture, arts, and community use. Most all of the ideas appear to fit within one or more of these themes. There were also development principles expressed by many of the small groups, including mixed and multiple use, minimizing parking through pedestrian design and use of alternative transportation, maintaining the natural features and topography, and utilizing sustainable technology, including alternative energy sources.

What do you think about mixing all these themes (rec, ag, arts and community) together on the Barns property under a series of development principles that each use must follow?
